Bahamas’ 700 islands continue to attract millions of visitors every year to their duty-free shopping, scuba diving excursions, mega-resorts, national parks and gardens, and luxurious accommodations. Families also seize the opportunity to visit national parks and gardens like Lucayan National Park (on Grand Bahama Island) and the Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve.
A visit to Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve which opens every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. costs $6 for children, $10 for grown-ups, and $8 for seniors ( 60 and above). Marketplaces in Paradise Islands, Freeport, and Nassau (Bahamas’ capital) are known for their duty-free deals. Most Bahamian beaches are free. However, you can only access Gold Rock Beach after paying Lucayan National Park’s entry fee.
Toronto is one of the international spring break destinations for families. Your kids will find the visit to the Royal Ontario Museum (with artifacts from all over the world) and the CN Tower (one of the tallest freestanding towers in the world at 447 meters high) very exciting. For the Royal Ontario Museum entry fee, the ticket for adults costs around $17 and $14 for children.
Fort York and the Ontario Science Centre allows for educational and fun-filled outings. Another big attraction that Toronto offers its visitors is PATH, the largest underground shopping mall in the world. Most of the Toronto beaches are free to visit for families
Other amazing places you can check out with your family include the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Horseshoe Tavern, City Hall, Nathan Philip Square, and the Distillery District. Most of these historic places are free to visit.
The best way to move around in Toronto is by public transport. The Toronto Transits Commission (TTC) operates streetcars, subways, and buses. You can get a cab for CA$50 to CA$70 (about $38 to $54) while the subway goes for just CA$3.25 (around $2.50).
Walt Disney World Resort, Orlando
Orlando is one of the best spring break destinations for families. Orlando boasts Walt Disney World Resort which has four theme parks- Epcot, the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdoms, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Disney Springs is a good place to take a stroll with your kids, watching live entertainment (mostly street performers, parades, and fireworks), and checking out the stores. The admission is free. At Disney Springs, your kids will get to see sights and enjoy rides like Spaceship Earth, Cinderella Castle (It’s a Small World), Toy Story Land, and Pandora – the World of Avatar. But there is one major concern. Walt Disney World Park tickets are quite pricey. Single-day tickets for children cost around $109.
All the parks open by 9 a.m. and close between 7 and 11 p.m. If your family is lodging in one of Walter Disney’s hotels, you have access to the free monorail, boat, and bus transportation. So, you don’t have to worry about getting a spot to park or walking to the theme park gate.
Jamaica provides mega-resorts with state-of-the-art facilities that keep your family entertained. These amenities include supervised kids camps, playgrounds, water parks, and mini-golf courses. When you want to explore beyond the resort, you can visit Rhodes Hall Plantation to ride horseback along the shore. At Mystic Mountain, you can have a bobsled ride through the rainforest.
While it’s practically impossible to cover Jamaica on a single trip, it’s best to choose your vacation priorities and activities and then plan your holiday accordingly. Of the three major tourist sites, Westernmost Negril is known for its luxurious accommodations and fine beaches.
North Western Montego Bay is perfect for golfers and Ocho Rios in the North East will fascinate those interested in exploring waterfalls. The best time to visit Jamaica is from November to Mid-December when the weather is beautiful.
It’s also the perfect time to find cheaper flight and hotel deals. However, January to March is the peak season for Jamaica’s islands. In this period, room rates can shoot up to more than $700 per night. Many Jamaican hotels offer all-inclusive dining options for your family at varying rates.
Sanibel Island is a favorite vacation destination for many families because of its affordable hotel rates and calm waters. The sight of animals like alligators and crocodiles at the J.N “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge is thrilling. Your family can go hunting for seashells on Captiva’s Island or Bowman’s Beach.
If you are looking for a quiet, quaint, and beautiful place for your family vacation, Sanibel Island is the right place for you. December to April is the best time to visit Sanibel. Trips during these months are less expensive. Also, this is when you will get perfect beach weather and affordable room rates for a family. While it’s not advisable to rent a bike or car on the Island, some taxi companies can help you move around.
Bali has pleasant weather, beautiful landmarks, and hospitable locals who love children. Rich history, diverse cultures, delicious foods, and exciting nightlife are part of the reasons why Bali is a great vacation destination for families. Your family will have fabulous moments at the beaches (Dua, Sanur, Nusa, and Jimbaran).
The outdoor Balinese shows are vigorous, colorful, and educating. The Elephant Safari and Bali Bird Parks are the two must-see places for families with children. The hotel rates in Bali are affordable with food and access to pools.
